Administrator Certification Process - Initial and Renewal
The following resources provide guidance to prospective and current administrators regarding the administrator certification process:

Administrator Certification Training Requirements
Pursuant to Assembly Bill (AB) 120, prospective and current Certified Administrators have the option to satisfy live training requirements for Initial Certification Training Programs (ICTP) and Continuing Education Training Programs (CETP) via Department-approved in-person or live-stream training. Additionally, AB 120 clarifies the requirements for individuals seeking certification or recertification as an ARFPSHN Administrator. Please refer to PIN 23-14-CCLD for more information regarding the changes to the administrator certification training requirements, including changes to course format terminology.
*Instead of completing an ICTP course and taking the ACB exam, initial applicants for RCFE-NHA and STRTP (with a valid GH certificate) need to complete twelve (12) hours of instruction in specific Core of Knowledge areas.
IMPORTANT: If you renew more than two (2) years but less than four (4) years after your certificate expiration date, you must complete the required hours for each two-year period renewal cycle. This means you must complete twice the required hours, and up to half of them may be done through self-paced courses.
Administrators who are within four (4) years of their certificate expiration date must renew their certificate by taking CETP courses, not an ICTP course.
Administrator certificates expired for more than four (4) years cannot be renewed. Administrators must start the administrator certification process again by taking an ICTP course.
