TrustLine
TrustLine is California’s registry of in-home child care providers who have been through a criminal background screening and clearance process. A background check discloses information about any criminal history that a potential child care provider may have. This means they have no disqualifying criminal convictions or substantiated child abuse reports in California.
TrustLine is administered by the CDSS Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) Care Provider Management Bureau and the California Child Care Resource and Referral Network.
What is Guardian?
Guardian is an online background check process for CalWORKs license-exempt providers who are required to be registered on the TrustLine Registry. In order for a child care provider applicant to become registered on TrustLine Registry, they must 1) pass the fingerprint based background check, and 2) complete the TrustLine Registry application.
The Guardian system provides the county welfare departments and authorized users the ability to enter applications online after the provider applicant provides proof of getting fingerprinted at a live scan site.
