CSEC Training Information
There are two types of training available:
CSEC 101:Identification and Awareness. From January 2015 through June 2016 this 6-hour in person course was provided via contacts with the Regional Training Academies for social workers, community partners and the Resource Center for Family Focused Practice for probation officers.
For 2016-17, CSEC 101 will only be available via a 90 minute e-Learning training (CSEC Awareness Module) available at CalSWEC.

The California Community College Chancellor’s Office developed their own version of CSEC 101 called “Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children: Awareness and Identification.”Topics will help foster parent, kinship, foster family agency care providers and group home staff understand the extent of the problem, recognize trafficking dynamics, vulnerabilities and recruitment tactics, legal issues, the role of care providers, learn what to do next after identifying a CSEC, and the importance of self-care.It is a 3-hour, in person course delivered through 60 community colleges’ Foster-Kinship Care Education offices.
CSEC 102: Skills to Engage Youth. Regional Training Academies delivered this training from January 2016 through June 2016.The curriculum also includes information on multi-disciplinary teams to provide case management services to youth.Revisions are being made to the curriculum and will be delivered by a different vendor in the future.
Youth Prevention Curriculum:
The County Welfare Directors Association (CWDA) held a webinar in 2015 covering recommended youth prevention curriculums.
In 2014-2016, counties were provided SB 855 funding for foster youth prevention training to help youth recognize CSEC and avoid it.Counties that Opt In to the CSEC Program are able to use their funding to do youth prevention training if they desire.
