The County Technical Assistance (TA) team is committed to assisting counties in managing the operational aspects of the CalFresh program. Here are the ways in which the County TA team provides support to counties:
County Connections
- Pairing counties for co-learning and peer support.
Identify & Share Best Practices
- Tools, training materials, handbooks, posters, customer education materials, and more.
- Counties can access best practices by visiting the CalFresh Operations Tools and Resources SharePoint page. This page is for county use only. To request access, contact the County TA team via email at CWDCalFreshTA@dss.ca.gov.
Review of County Created Materials
- Review and provide feedback on county-created materials such as handbooks, guides, cheat sheets for staff, and much more.
CalFresh Presentations
- County PIR Roadshow - A review of county-specific findings from the previous ME and how to address them to improve overall program access.
- Timeliness Roadshow - An overview of how timeliness is tracked and calculated as well as the Corrective Action Plan (CAP) Process.
- CalFresh at the State Level - An overview of the four CalFresh Bureaus with a deeper dive into the three Operations Sections (County Technical Assistance/Quality Control and Management Evaluations).
- Program Access Overview - A review of elements required by regulation for program access to compliance.
- Verification Roadshow - An excellent training for staff on verification-related errors and how to mitigate them.
County Operational Redesign Effort (CORE)
- CORE is a structured process to identify opportunities for improvement. The County TA team - supports counties with redesign and new model implementation efforts.
