Data Stewardship and Integrity Bureau

Our Mission

The Data Stewardship and Integrity Bureau (DSIB) is an integral component of the Enterprise Data Management Branch, working collaboratively to protect public assistance funds and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The DSIB provides oversight for program integrity in the CalWORKs, CalFresh, and Child Care programs while focusing on preventing and detecting welfare fraud.

The DSIB harnesses data from multiple sources to inform policy decisions, measure performance, and drive outcomes reflected in federal and state reporting. Through compliance reviews and policy implementation, this bureau plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of public assistance programs to ensure efficient program operation and accountability across California's public assistance system, helping improve program transparency and public trust.
