Eligibility Reason
The Eligibility Reason information field indicates the reason for determining eligibility for subsidized child care and development services. This is the reason used to determine “eligibility” for services and indicated on the CCD 26 Form.
In accordance with Welfare and Institution Code 12071 (a).(1).(A), children and families are eligible for child care and development services when they meet at least one requirement in each of the following areas:
(i) a current aid recipient, (ii) income eligible, (iii) homeless, (iv) one whose children are recipients of protective services, or whose children have been identified as being abused, neglected, or exploited, or at risk of being abused, neglected, or exploited,(v) one who has a member of its household who is certified to receive benefits from Medi-Cal, CalFresh, the California Food Assistance Program, the California Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, the federal Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations, Head Start, Early Head Start, or CalWORKs or (vi) Program for Severely Handicap

Note: Check to see if the family has a subsequent Notice of Action on file (not the initial notice) that applies to the report period (i.e., completed on or before the report period, as indicated by the effective date of action). If a Notice of Action is on file and the reason has changed, enter the updated information.

Possible Choices for the CDD-801A
- A – Child Protective Services (CPS) or At-Risk (child is a recipient of protective services or is at risk of abuse, neglect, or exploitation)
- B – Current Aid Recipient
- C – Income Eligible
- D – Experiencing Homelessness
- E – Means-Tested Government Programs (Medi-Cal, CalFresh, The California Food Assistance Program, The California Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, The Federal Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations, Head Start, Early Head Start, CalWORKs)
