Dual Language Learner (DLL) Designation (CDD-801A Only)
This identifies whether a child is considered a Dual Language Learner (DLL).
Where to Find It:
Determined using the child’s Family Language Instrument or during the Staff Designation Process.
Rules and Guidelines:
- This field is only required for center-based CCTR and center-based CMIG programs. All other programs must leave blank.
- This information field is required.
- 5 valid entries (detailed below)
- 1: DLL
- 2: Non-DLL
- 3: DLL-Staff Designation
- 4: Parent Opt-Out
- 5: Not yet designated
- Do not include a leading zero.
- This field must be left blank during non-DLL reporting months.
Details of entry options:
1: DLL: Child is designated as a DLL through the Family Language Instrument or through previous designation.
2: Non-DLL: Child only speaks English.
3: DLL Staff Designation: Staff Designation is only used to identify a child as a DLL if a parent/guardian originally identifies a child as not a DLL but then the staff observe that the child responds to, understands, or communicates in another language(s) other than English.
4: Parent Opt-Out: Parent has opted out of Dual Language Designation, including Staff Designation.
5: Not Yet Designated: The child does not have a completed Family Language Instrument on file, typically because the child enrolled prior to the DLL reporting requirement, and have not recertified into the program yet.
