Child's Home Language(s), including Language(s) Child Understands or is Exposed to at Home (CDD-801A Only)

This refers to the language(s) primarily spoken by the child at home or in their primary caregiving environment. This includes the language(s) spoken, signed, or communicated with by parents, grandparents, siblings, extended family, or others living within or visiting the home, including ASL and other sign languages.

Where to Find It:

Indicated on the child’s Family Language Instrument or determined during Staff Designation.

Rules and Guidelines:

  • This field is only required for center-based CCTR and center-based CMIG programs. All other programs must leave blank.
  • This information field is required.
  • This field must contain at least 2 characters. Example: 02, 04, etc.
  • Leading zero must be included.
  • See list of language codes on CCD-26 Confidential Application for Child Development Services and Certification of Eligibility form, Section IV Data on Children Column 8: Native Language Codes.
  • When inputting multiple codes, separate each with a comma.
  • Do not include a space between multiple codes.
  • This field must be left blank during non-DLL reporting months.

  • How do I report more than one language code in the Electronic File Upload?
    • Separate each 2-character language code with a comma.
  • How is this field different from the Child’s Primary Language Field?
    • This field allows multiple entries to capture all languages the child understands and is exposed to at home.
