Request for Application (RFA) Funding Opportunities
The Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC) sections 13300-13307 authorizes the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to provide grants to qualified nonprofit legal services organizations to provide legal services, education and outreach services, and more, through the Immigration Services Bureau (ISB). More information can be found below for specific programs.

Immigration Service Funding
The next open competitive Immigration Services Funding (ISF) program RFA will be conducted in State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2027-28 and is contingent upon funds made available through the State Budget.
Removal Defense
The Removal Defense (RD) Program is awarded as a three-year grant for services completed July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028. The next application cycle will be open Summer 2028.
Youth Legal Services
The SFY 2026-27 YLS Legal Services RFA period was closed to the public. For the duration of the grant term, the program only accepted renewal funding request from the existing organizations. New organizations wishing to participate will have an opportunity to apply during the next open grant cycle in SFY2027-28.
