CACFP Administrative Review
The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Branch conducts Administrative Reviews (AR) and provides CACFP Program Operators with information and updates to ensure program compliance. The information and guidance on this page apply to all CACFP adult and childcare centers, emergency shelters, at-risk afterschool programs, and sponsoring organizations.
Administrative Review Selection of Sites
- Program Operators of 1 to 100 facilities are reviewed at least once every 3 years; a review will include 10 percent of the facilities.
- Program Operators with more than 100 facilities are reviewed at least every 2 years. These reviews include reviews of 5 percent of the first 1,000 facilities and 2.5 percent of the facilities in excess of 1000.
- Administrative reviews for newly participating Program Operators with five or more childcare facilities must be completed within the first 90 days of Program operations.
Administrative reviews shall assess Program Operators compliance with the provisions of this part (7 CFR 226) and with any applicable instructions of the CDSS CACFP Branch and the United States Department of Agriculture.

The schedule of reviews is subject to change and your Child Nutrition Consultant will send an AR notification email to CACFP Program Operators scheduled for review.
