The Office of Tribal Affairs (OTA) has the primary responsibility of building better government-to-government relationships with the CDSS and California Indian Tribes (Tribes), Counties and Tribal Governments, as well as working with Native American stakeholders.

Vision

The Office of Tribal Affairs cultivates informed participation and trusting relationships with and among the Tribes, California Department of Social Services, and Counties to enhance the well-being of American Indian children and families.

Mission

Grounded in meaningful tribal consultation, engagement of core stakeholders, and advising leadership, the Office of Tribal Affairs guides the California Department of Social Services efforts to help create and facilitate policies, procedures, and programs that serve American Indian children and families.
