CACFP Reimbursement Claims and Grants

Provides information about financial resources that are available to Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Operators, such as reimbursement rates, how to file a claim, and available grant opportunities.

For specific details related to allowable operating and administrative costs, program income, and meals, please refer to the Child Care Centers or Day Care Home Sponsors Administrative Manuals or contact the CACFP Specialist for your agency.

CACFP Claims

Reimbursement Rates

Reimbursement rates for the current program year can be found on the CACFP Reimbursement Rates web page. This includes rates for both CACFP centers and day care homes.

Income eligibility scales for the current program year can be found on the USDA Income Eligibility Guidelines web page.

The DSS CACFPB regrets to announce that the CACFP phase of the Direct Deposit Project is on hold. This letter from the Branch Chief provides more information.

Filing Reimbursement Claims

If you have questions about filing either a new or an existing reimbursement claim, contact the CACFP Fiscal team at CACFPClaims@dss.ca.gov. Please allow up to five (5) business days for response to all CACFP claim inquiries.

Reimbursement Payments

Information regarding CACFP reimbursement payments can be found in your agency’s Payment Summary located on the Claims menu in CNIPS. If you have questions regarding payments issued or invoices received, or wish to report missing/damaged/stolen warrants, contact the CACFP Fiscal Unit at CACFPPayments@dss.ca.gov. For all inquiries please include the following information where applicable:

  • Your agency’s 5-digit CNIPS ID #.
  • The Schedule Number(s) of the payment(s) in question as listed on your agency’s Payment Summary in CNIPS.
  • For Invoices: The invoice number and invoice date listed in the upper right corner of the notice received by your agency.

Please allow up to five (5) business days for response to all CACFP payment inquiries.

Grants and Funding Opportunities

Day Care Home Expansion Grant

The USDA allows eligible Day Care Home (DCH) sponsors to obtain additional administrative funds to conduct outreach and recruitment activities to expand the number of DCH providers that participate in the CACFP in low-income or rural areas. DCH expansion funds provide payments to DCH sponsors for administrative expenses incurred to identify, recruit, train, and enroll providers in the CACFP. The expansion funds are authorized by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Title 7, Code of Federal Regulations (7 CFR), Section 226.12, through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
