The Adoption Assistance Program and Support Unit is proud to announce that effective fall of 2023, California has joined the national Interstate Compact on Adoption and Medical Assistance (ICAMA) System.

The ICAMA System is a web based database that has vastly improved the ability to submit Medicaid transfer request information for children of Title IV-E and State-Funded adoptive and guardianship placements between all counties and all 50 states as well as Puerto Rico through the use of forms housed within the secure system.  The CDSS and California counties may now process all ICAMA Medicaid transfers using the ICAMA System.  The implementation of the ICAMA System is in accordance with the ICAMA Compact.  California joined the rest of the country in implementing the ICAMA System in the fall of 2023.
