Resource & Referral Agency (R&R)
The local R&R  agency maintains lists of child care providers in their area.  They also provide resources and information to parents looking for child care.  The California Department of Education (CDE) funds at least one R&R program in each county.

Alternative Payment Program (APP)
APPs provide subsidies to pay for child care in a location of the parent’s choice while the parent is working, in training, or seeking employment. There is at least one APP program in each of California’s 58 counties. These programs are administered by the CDE.

Licensed Child Care Information and Resources
The California Department of Social Services, Child Care Licensing Program provides preventive, protective, and quality services to children in care by ensuring that licensed facilities meet established health and safety standards through monitoring facilities, providing technical assistance, and establishing partnerships with providers, parents, and the child care community.
