Domestic Abuse Training

Domestic Abuse Training For CalWORKS Staff

The Domestic Abuse Training for CalWORKs Staff was presented to County Welfare Department staff through a series of training forums beginning May 2002. This two-day training, developed by the University of California, Davis, was an excellent opportunity for CalWORKs staff throughout the state to better learn how to identify and serve CalWORKs clients who are victims of domestic abuse. County Welfare Departments are welcome to use curriculum materials from this training (available below) to train both new and seasoned staff when applicable.

The domestic abuse training revamp is underway and is expected to be finalized by 2026. The training will be delivered in three modalities:

  • Instructor-led: A live classroom environment where participants receive in-person instruction.
  • Web-based/LMS: An online learning management system format allowing county staff to complete the training at their own pace.
  • Customizable Content: Training materials that Health and Human Service Agencies can adapt and deliver based on their capacity and business needs.
