CalFood

The CalFood Program allocates funding to TEFAP food banks for the purchase, storage, and transportation of food grown and/or produced in California.

Diaper Bank Program

The Diaper Bank Program was established by the Legislature, through the Budget Act of 2021 (Provision 35 of Item 5180-151-0001 of AB 128) for costs associated with the storage, handling, and transportation of diapers to low-income families with toddlers or infants. The following Food Banks were identified: (Central California Food Bank, Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Help a Mother Out, Community Action Partnership of Orange County, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino, and Redwood Empire Food Bank).

Drought Food Assistance Program (DFAP)

The Drought Food Assistance Program (DFAP) has been established for Fiscal Year 2021 through 2024. DFAP was funded in the Governor’s budget (AB 211, Chapter 574, Statutes of 2022) to assist with drought response. The Research Automation and Data Division (RADD) utilized several factors to determine the most drought vulnerable. The following counties were identified: Colusa, Del Norte, Fresno, Glenn, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, Monterey, San Joaquin, Santa Barbara, Siskiyou, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Tulare, and Yuba.

Emergency Food for Families Fund (Tax Check-off)

Chapter 18, Statues of 1998 (Assembly Bill 2366), established a voluntary contribution check-off on the State income tax form to benefit the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). The funds are intended for the purchase of additional food and must be from an outside vendor other than the food bank, and not to be used to replace food or funds.

Menstrual Pilot Program (MPP)

The Menstrual Pilot Program (MPP) was established by legislature, through the Budget Act of 2021 (Provision 40 of Item 5180-151-0001 of AB 128) which provided $2 million in funding for the Menstrual Products Pilot for costs associated with the storage, handling, and transportation of menstrual hygiene products to individuals served by Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

One Time Legislative Grants/Gifts

One Time Legislative Grants are established annually by the legislature with counties/agencies receiving funding to improve capacity and to address any other needs in their region.
